[...] This best shot is a Sun King Mirror, which we made during our visit to the art museum to see Great Expectations - Aristocratic Children in European Portraiture. To a real mom, the portraits of Louis XIII of France, Louis XIV of France, Charles I of England, and Charles II of Spain display a baffling era when children played a heavy role in the country’s kingdom, diplomacy and bloodline preservation. Girls were forced to marry and bear children at early ages to forge a protective bond between kingdoms. These children wore heavy robes, jewels, feathered gold-rimmed crowns and amulets, to protect them from harm. I’m sure this made it tough for the miniature royalty to run around, climb cabinets for the good stuff, and catch toads. [...]

All we managed in Suffolk the other week was a very tiny frog - oh, and some serious grass-snakes. Cue lots of delighted shrieking from 3yo (going on 4!)

Not a very big fan of frogs and toads - we have lots of them come up to our driveway after an afternoon shower.
But the pictures are sooo cute. He totally loves the toad.

How perfect that there's a toad in his class. Perhaps it will make up for the lost time with his Lake House toad. Very sweet.

That's so cute that there is a pet toad in his class. And so funny that he tried to leave the first one on it's back. Ha.

Robin, I was thinking about writing a how-to on the whole new google desktop thing I just discovered. It's pretty cool -- I'll let you know when I get the post up.

Beck -- that sounds awful. I'm sure it was that "squeeze" that little ones give?
