You were on the right way with you recipe you are only missing 1 tsp of cooking oil and 1/2 tsp of vinager. I work with this clay and I do microwave it but you need to microwave every 20 seconds for about 2 to 3 minutos and after you have to press the dough for a few minutos. Another thing you have to molde by hand. Putting that potato head on the microwave hopping it was going to be ready was a mistake………..if you have time try it again i love this craft………….

omgoodness… so would the clay have worked if it hadn’t been microwaved?

Sounds like you deserve a night off!

Actually, Steph, it was even worse than that. The clay would not stay put… literally. Once we had it in the shape we wanted it to be; the clay would move down, sliding into a flat oval disc. My son learned this after he took the clay to school, and presented it to his group, and they unsuccessfully tried to build the bunny together. “They were all so mad at me Mom.” I was horrified. On night 2, I had hoped that the microwave would dry it faster into a hard, stable shape. Bad idea, all the way around.

Wouldn’t it have been great though, if you could make that dough from cornstarch and glue? Maybe I mixed it wrong somehow… but adding more conrstarch made it tough flaky, and more glue, too sticky. MESS!– SJ
