Black Raspberries and Skin Cancer
With all the amazing health news they are learning about black raspberries. (They can repair damaged skin from the sun, fight oral cancer), there is nothing quite like waking up in the morning, on the lake, on a cool sunny day, the house still shaded in the morning sun, walking a few steps down the lane to find these.
The boys, yes, they have their fish. But, I have my black raspberries. There is nothing quite like standing in a black raspberry patch, picking, and and hearing the murmuring sound of munching at your knees. All of the boys love these. But their buckets are empty — no matter how long they stand there picking. Their hands are stained purple, but they munch
and munch.
And to know that on your agenda for the day is to pick up a frozen pie shell (we are at the lake, after all,), and make black raspberry pie.
Or maybe, angel food cake with fresh berries.
