Blogs, lost comments, and the $90 library card

We’re staying another week. Why not? But another week without WiFi. I’ve learned I’ve been tagged for memes I know nothing about. And this new SK*RT thing that Shelly has told me about, and then, there are the blog games I can’t participate in.

The problem is that I don’t have enough battery power left after writing my posts to do anything else on my laptop. I write them in groups that are scheduled to hit through the week. I can get 45-50 minutes in of blog work done before my laptop hibernates. And then, I’m done. And once I get back to the lake house to re-charge my computer — it’s about 2-3 more days before I can make it back to town to get WiFI again.

The closest library to the lake house is brand new. State of the art — and it’s 10 minutes away from the lake house. I thought I could spend time there, using WiFi. However, for us, the card costs $90 each. (Trying to keep us “lake people “out.) Because we don’t live in the “township.” Amazing. I had hoped to keep the boys eyes filled up with lots of new books from the library — but sadly, this is not the case. I thought, as Americans, that libraries were just one of our rights. I take so much for granted. Well, for $90, I guess it is. There is a library in my township up here, that’s free, but I have yet to find it.

I am able to very quickly read all my blogs via google reader — so I’m getting back in touch. But I can’t comment. By the time I type in my name, and all of those squiggly letters to make sure I’m not spam, my computer shuts down. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve pushed the button to publish a comment, and it kicks back saying I typed the letter wrong, and then the power goes dead. I’m just a lurker.

So for now, I’ll just sit here on my porch and hold my little one when he’s cold after swimming in the lake.  He gets me dripping wet every time — but it’s a treasure I cherish for now.

While at the lake, WiFi is seriously lacking in my life... I can't wait to read your comments.
  1. Oh, it looks like fun, though being without the computer must be hard for you. I’m spending tomorrow catching up reading. You are so good to have your posts ready. I can barely get the energy to get posts written, and I don’t have to worry about power or WiFi.

    Enjoy every moment!

  2. Oh, just enjoy your time at the lake. I’m loving your posts about it. We’ll all be here when you get back.

  3. $90 bah, highway robbery.

    I agree, enjoy the lake and all it gives to you and the boys. They don’t look like they’re in want of anything. These memories will last all their days - you’re making some good ones.

  4. Love the picture.

    {I envy your lovely locks that hold up at the lake.}

  5. We’ve got a holiday booked with no internet access. And, tragic online junkie that I am, I’m dreading it…
