Mulled Apple Cider, With a Kick
This mulled cider recipe is Autumn’s answer to Winter’s Egg Nog. These cool nights demand one thing; gathering outside with your neighbors with a nice small bonfire, and a cup of mulled apple cider.
Here’s the recipe:
- 3 small oranges
- 2 apples
- 5 tablespoons whole cloves
- 8 cups (1/2 gallon) apple cider
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 1-1/2 cups Captain Morgan’s Original Spiced Rum
- Wash oranges and apples.
- Stick cloves into oranges and apples.
- Pour apple cider in a large saucepan.
- Add Cinnamon sticks and fruit.
- Heat mixture.
- Add the rum.
- Serve warm in punch cups.
Drinking this drink not only warms you inside, but also helps the economy. Sure, it does. Captain Morgan’s was precisely created in the 1950s as a way to help stimulate economic incentives to create jobs in Puerto Rico. However, I think now Captain Morgan’s is actually made in St. Croix.

All these recipes have oranges…too bad I’m allergic. *sigh* They all sound so good!
Just leave the oranges out!
mmmm…Sounds delicious. I can’t wait to try it!
I’m making it this weekend. Perfect…
