Mulled Apple Cider, With a Kick

This mulled cider recipe is Autumn’s answer to Winter’s Egg Nog. These cool nights demand one thing; gathering outside with your neighbors with a nice small bonfire, and a cup of mulled apple cider.
Here’s the recipe:

  • 3 small oranges
  • 2 apples
  • 5 tablespoons whole cloves
  • 8 cups (1/2 gallon) apple cider
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 1-1/2 cups Captain Morgan’s Original Spiced Rum
  1. Wash oranges and apples.
  2. Stick cloves into oranges and apples.
  3. Pour apple cider in a large saucepan.
  4. Add Cinnamon sticks and fruit.
  5. Heat mixture.
  6. Add the rum.
  7. Serve warm in punch cups.

Drinking this drink not only warms you inside, but also helps the economy.  Sure, it does. Captain Morgan’s was precisely created in the 1950s as a way to help stimulate economic incentives to create jobs in Puerto Rico. However, I think now Captain Morgan’s is actually made in St. Croix.
