School bells and playtime

backpack.jpg

No way to make it,

on time, to school everyday.

See, we have BIG plans.

As caped crusaders,

we’ve got our costumes to wear,

plus, there’s crime to fight.

We’re up at seven,

ready, serious, for play

Still, not enough time.

Tears at 11,

time for lunch,

and real clothes too,

still, play makes us late.

We are getting later, and later everyday. Breaks my heart to break up their playtime. You can read more Haiku Friday’s here.

On another note, I know that most of my readers are non-bloggers. Alltop is a new “magazine rack-style” blog reader that I love because of its elegant simplicity. Bloggers, and especially non-bloggers who love to read blogs, will appreciate this uncluttered blog reader. Alltop is the latest brain child of Guy Kawaski, ( who I’m pretty sure loves Guinness cake, by the way) Will Mayall, and Kathryn Henkensa. The website launched on March 11, 2008. This team also created Truemors. I found Alltop through Twitter, a great way to spread news fast.

Alltop has over 46 (and growing) categories, and its clean design made for easy browsing. And yep, I’m included, go see me under Moms.

Note to you all: if you have e-mailed me or come here to leave a comment, please forgive me - I am completely overwhelmed now that school has started, and I have begun writing for dollars. I read everything, but sometimes have no time to respond, or visit you via my reader. Please know that I so appreciate your presence.
  1. I love your haikus!

Sometimes our daycare provider admits that she didn’t take the kids out that day, because their inside play was too wonderful to interrupt. I think it’s good to be able to throw out the schedule sometimes if you can. Playing is really precious, valuable time!

  2. They are adorable in those costumes!

    Great haiku!

  3. Those costumes are fantastic and so are the kus.

  10. Play time should be sacred :)

I’m really in love with you banner, Susie. I have a thing for balloons!

  11. Aw, so adorable and such a fun ‘ku! I agree that playtime is important. At no other point in their lives will it ever be as much fun to dress up in costume as it is now. When I think of how strong my imagination was at that age, I’d love now to have just a fraction of it. Good stuff!

  12. Dressing up is so fun! I never did it as a kid (wasn’t allowed) but my daughter and friends LOVE it!

  13. I hate having to stop playing, too, and I’m 33.

  14. Susie, you are great with words. You are able to put the words and pictures so nicely together that your reader can actually “feel” what you are saying.

  15. Oh, with all the crime in Gotham City how can you break that duo up? Do you have PM school? I wasn’t aware they still did it that way. I hope you manage to find a happy medium.

  16. Playing is important! Really important! I always love visiting your blog - never know what nifty things I’ll find here. Great!

  17. love those caped boys!
