Sunday

candles1.gif Quantum physics research says that the simple act of observation influences the physical processes taking place. You can watch this experiment here. New age gurus talk about the Power of Attention all the time — it’s a way to save the world. It’s actually a very ancient practice, called prayer. Others do the same thing when they meditate.

My life doesn’t allow me the luxury of observing the sabbath as a full day of rest. I try to make the day different — and restful, but there are meals to cook, soccer and lacrosse games, diapers to change, and with 4 boys, lots of cleaning. But today, I will take the time to go inward, and observe. I will list some of them here. The list is actually very long, but here are the highlights. Essentially, I pray, and I meditate, but you may observe in other ways.

  • My gratitude for my son’s quick thinking in saving his little brother’s hand in the elevator.
  • Needed: babysitter for Friday night for date with Husband
  • A headline I read: “Mass Shootings are Common”
  • My Uncle, who has a fighting urge to live, but who is lonely.
  • A stressful meeting Monday morning
  • My daily struggle during the witching hour when the testosterone is more than I can handle.
  • The Lake House
  • Suicide bombers

If you would like me and other readers here to observe your “list,” feel free to create a link, or use the comments section to list them, so that we may “observe” with you.

If you have a blog, and would like to create a link and you’re not sure how, here’s how to do it. Click on the title of this article, Sunday. Look up in the address bar, and it now looks like this: http://www.susiej.com/index.php/sunday/. Copy that url, (highlight, control c.  Paste = control v) and use that to create your link.

Like all of you, I am overwhelmed and am currently working on a plan to eliminate all need for sleep so that I will have enough hours in the day. I'll let you know as soon as I have all the kinks worked out. I treasure your comments and emails. I do read them all.
  1. Thank you for your comment on my blog the other day. :)
Maybe the French language will come like riding a bike to you when you need it again? Plus, isn’t it fun to tell people you know the French language? Haha. What is “Camus”?

p.s. I love lists. Although sometimes they make me even more stressed. Other times, they help me keep organized. Most of the time though, they are helpful for everybody.
p.s.s. Do you mean to watch The Lake House? It’s a pretty good movie, haha.

  2. Albert Camus — The French Author who wrote “The Stranger” A classic. No, I did see the Lake House, but that’s not what I mean — I will expand on this later on the blog.

  3. We liked this post especially, SusieJ — more than anything because it is real and what we actually notice during our day. It isn’t always the gushy sweet things, but all things, the awful and the extraordinary. The balance.

Nanny Tina and I spent the day calming the irate Mr. Baldwin with our new product to reduce violence. We are doing our part.

  4. I’m here… I will observe with you :)

    My list will follow :)

  5. I bet you do have tons of testosterone at your place. I can’t even imagine.

  6. O, Mother Pie, it is overflowing, on the streets, in the sewer, everywhere (see Ghost Busters II) but, there is balance here, too, in spite of our image; the miracle is that by and large we all get along in spite of our differences. These horrible mass shootings aren’t happening here (I don’t want to temp Fate) because, I think, there are plenty of opportunity to express little frictions and work some of that off. I am ever the optimist though. Critic Dave Hickey wrote an excellent piece on this called something like “Being in Santa Barbara” or “Being like Santa Barbara” in which he addressed this.
