The Irrationality of Motherhood

boys.jpg

The end of the day comes, exhausted from four boys who play and climb all day. I put them in jammies, and send them off to meet the sandman, and I breathe a sigh of relief. I know that sleep makes little boys turn into men. Watching them grow breaks and stretches my heart. So, why the rush every night to get them to sleep?

I sincerely thank you for your comments and I enjoy your insights. I'll post responses/answers to any questions you have here, so please check back. Your comment is followed via a link. As children require you to be fully present, I'm finding it difficult to visit everyone everyday, as I have noses to kiss, backs to rub, lots of messes to clean, and stories that demand an attentive, caring ear. I will try, nothing personal, and I hope to visit you soon.
  1. So beautifully put.

I feel exactly the same way. Irrational indeed.

    Love those pictures.

  3. Sing it! All three of mine are just now asleep, and this post really resonates with me.

  4. That’s easy, cause mom needs a break. That doesn’t mean we want them to grow up any faster, just that we need to replenish so we don’t miss something important.

  5. Thank you rising rainbow. I knew there had to be a reason to my madness.

  6. SO. LOVELY.

And there I was, talking about universes and poo.

  7. Madness, indeed. I used to feel the same way. The boys would just exhaust me. But now they are mostly grown. Mostly. They still can kind of exhaust me when they’re home though. *g

    Great photos!

  8. So true.
