Getting our Eggs In Order

Snow is coming down hard again — blizzard proportions at the lake. The little guy doesn’t have snow pants this time, so I’m in town gathering supplies and rations and pants. Before I hurry back, as the roads are getting bad, I wanted to share my favorite Easter story from last year, as it still describes my life to a T and a half.

The sun is shinning. There is a small little dogwood tree that sits in my front yard. I can see it from my kitchen when I wash dishes in the sink. I had just pulled out all of my Easter decorations, and I had a few plastic eggs left over. I got the bright idea to do one of those truly suburban things that I usually don’t like to do: to tie these leftover eggs to the tree. My 4-year old helped. He was so proud, as I explained that this would help the Easter Bunny find our house on Easter morning. The whole task didn’t take long — I used light green fishing wire. I went back inside to wash some dishes, and I looked up to admire my tree. Thinking about how far I’ve come to enjoy such a spectacle. To my horror, the eggs were gone. I ran outside — was it the wind? Were they not tied tight enough? What caused them all to fall?

JOY

I found my beaming 4-year-old, holding his brand new baseball bat. “I”m getting really good at hitting the ball.” I’m glad I could help.
I wonder who had more fun? My 4 year old, or my neighbor, who sat on his front porch, and watched the whole event transpire?

For another good laugh, read this one.

  1. That is so funny! Did the Easter Bunny still find your house? I’ve seen those eggs hanging in the trees in people’s yards, but I have yet to do it myself. We are so bad at taking down Xmas decorations, I’m afraid the eggs would be there until the Fourth of July. I can’t believe Easter is just around the corner! Yippie for Spring!
